1966 VW Restoration Project

It has come to my attention that this area of the website has received a lot of inattention. I’m here to fix that today. Let me fill you in on what has been happening with the Bug. Well, I have to fix the website first. Thanks, ADHD.
I have always wanted to restore vehicles because seeing them sit and rot just brings me heartache. This is my first attempt. So many things to learn! Air cooled Volkswagen Beetles are simple machines with a classic look. Parts and body panels are readily available which is a huge plus.
I have already purchased a donor body at a generously low price and plan on using as many body parts as I can.
So why THIS Volkswagen?
In short, this 1966 Volkswagen belonged to my dad, a 41 year military veteran who served in both the Air Force and the Army. He is such a great guy who always puts his needs last. The VW was parked due to an electrical problem in 1987. It also didn’t help that it needed a new clutch.
He has given this Bug to me and knows I am going to fix it up BUT what he doesn’t know is that he’s going to get it back! Or at least that was the plan. Ultimately life got in the way.
My mom has had a series of health complications and a stroke. “The urgency to get this project completed has heightened exponentially to get this project completed before either of them pass.” Unfortunately, I lost my mom in August of 2025. My dad is still milling around as of today (23 Sept 2025) and has been pleased to see what has been done to this point.
100% of donations will go towards the restoration of this Volkswagen. If you are interested in learning more or donating, please click the link below to my Patreon. If you are a company interested in donating products, please email D6Spanky@gmail.com with the subject “VW Donation”.
