Veteran VW Project

I have always wanted to restore vehicles because seeing them sit and rot just brings me heartache. This is my first attempt. So many things to learn! Air cooled Volkswagen Beetles are simple machines with a classic look. Parts and body panels are readily available which is a huge plus.

I have already purchased a donor body at a generously low price and plan on using as many body parts as I can.

So why THIS Volkswagen?

In short, this 1966 Volkswagen belongs to a 41 year military veteran who served in both the Air Force and the Army. He is such a great guy who always puts his needs last. I believe the VW was parked due to an electrical problem in 1987.

Now, the owner has given this Bug to me and knows I am going to fix it up BUT what he doesn’t know is that he’s going to get it back!
Update: The veteran’s wife has had a series of health complications during the past year. The urgency to get this project completed has heightened exponentially to get this project completed before either of them pass.
